Spotlight on USACE Galveston District’s Dwayne Johnson
“During a field visit to the Port Arthur area, I was hiking down a steep berm in my rubber boots on a rainy day and I slipped and fell on my back landing right next to a curled up water moccasin just two feet away,” said Johnson, a Regulatory Branch manager. “I shot up so fast. I now avoid that area and wear boots with good traction.”
Assigned to the Policy Analysis Section of the Regulatory Branch for the last five years, Johnson works to implement national regulatory guidance, manages the district’s Water Resources Development Act 214 agreements, oversees complex permit actions, scientific testing and reports. Currently, the most pressing project involves the proposed Freeport liquified natural gas facilities on Quintana Island near Freeport, Texas.
According to Johnson, Freeport LNG is proposing to expand the terminal to create an import/export terminal, providing nominal natural gas pretreatment, liquefaction and export capacity of LNG. The project is designed to liquefy approximately two billion cubic feet per day of natural gas delivered to the terminal through intrastate pipelines interconnected with Freeport LNG’s pipeline and meter station at Stratton Ridge, Texas. The district is responsible for ensuring National Environmental Policy Act compliance, interagency coordination and meeting with the general public to answer questions. With the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission as the lead federal agency, the district will work to ensure the Environmental Impact Statement addresses program policies and regulations.
“My involvement during outreach and educational opportunities has provided a “face” to the district,” said Johnson. “It has made a positive difference in how public perceives our organization and I’m happy to be a part of this process.”
Throughout the year, Johnson participates as a judge in local science fairs and engages students who wish to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering and Math courses of study as part of the district’s Corps in the Classroom outreach program.
“My love for anything outdoors lead me to become a biologist,” said Johnson. “I enjoy giving time to civic and social organizations and am a land management committee member of Scenic Galveston.”
A Professional Wetland Scientist, Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Chemistry and a Master of Science in Aquatic Biology/Statistics from Stephen F. Austin State University. He has received numerous civilian service awards throughout his career and was selected as the 2011 USACE Galveston District Regulator of the Year and the 2011 Southwestern Division Regulator of the Year.
A native of Houston, when not at work he spends his time gardening and traveling with his family to the Caribbean.
The district’s Regulatory Program is committed to protecting the nation's aquatic resources, while allowing reasonable development through fair, flexible and balanced permit decisions. Staff evaluates permit applications for essentially all construction activities that occur in the nation's waters, including wetlands.

Kellan Lutz: "Dwayne Johnson's Hercules Is Older"
Kellan Lutz has spoken out about Dwayne Johnson’s competing Hercules film, which comes out in July.
“I don't think there's any pressure for me,” the actor told AP. “I'm going to see his movie.”
Kellan stars in the newly released The Legend of Hercules, which opened this week in the US.
“[Dwayne’s] movie, actually Hercules: The Thracian Wars, his Hercules is an older Hercules,” said the former Twilight star.
“He's 15 years older than I am, I think. So it's kind of great timing that ours would be first because ours is the origin of Hercules and then you can go watch Hercules the man in his fighting one.”
To play the divine hero, Kellan said he had to “trim up” for the role.
"Well there wasn't much time to get in shape before I started shooting,” he explained. “I'm an active guy, it's more my lifestyle. So Renny [Harlin, the director] just wanted me to trim up.”
“It's not like I could start one size and then gain weight to be another size, three months later.”

Macho Roles Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Should Have Got
Right now, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is arguably the biggest movie star in the world. He has leading-man charm and his movies clean house at the box office. The Rock is in such high demand, he has to turn down major productions simply because he can't be in two places at once. What roles would he have been perfect for?
Conan
The only man in Hollywood who's literally larger than life enough to take on this role was Johnson. Sorry, Jason Momoa, but your size was simply too scrawny to be Conan. Arnold Schwarzengger took on this role and he really made this character come to life. The Rock could have stepped in with his massive chest and bulging biceps.
Venom
Another character that required immense size, Venom is one of Spider-Man’s biggest foes. A major villain would require a major actor, one who would fit the role. Johnson would be perfect, right? What happened inSpider-Man 3? All of a sudden, a burly Venom shrinks way down to size in the form of Topher Grace? Huh?
Transformers: Age of Extinction
Mark Wahlberg got the part for the new Transformers film, but it was offered to the Rock first. He turned it down to do Hercules. Too bad, it would have been cool to see him face off against gigantic robots.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
Yes, Johnson was in the sequel. But that movie had all kinds of problems and honestly, it wasn’t even as good as the original. We should have had an entire movie featuring Channing Tatum and the Rock fighting side by side. A reboot, anyone?

All in a day's work! Dwayne Johnson enjoys a tender kiss with his co-star Anabelle Acosta on set of new TV show in Miami
He's known for being a huge action hero.
But this time Dwayne Johnson was enjoying a different kind of action.
The 42-year-old was spotted kissing his sexy co-star Anabelle Acosta on the set of their new TV series Ballers in Miami on Tuesday.
While shooting the romantic moment, The Rock was conservatively dressed with a purple sweater over a button-down shirt and jeans.
With his trademark shaved smooth head, the former WWE superstar's bulging muscles were visible through his preppy outfit.
Anabelle wore a leather jacket, flowing white scoop neck top and a pair of skin tight grey jeans.
In the scene for their new HBO pilot, the couple can be seen walking together before stopping at an ATM machine.
The Fast & Furious 6 star gently places his hand on the Cuban born actress' head before leaning in to kiss her on the lips.
They share the tender peck before pulling away and walking off.
Dwayne Johnson: Green Lantern Or Lex Luthor In Batman VS Superman?
For Dwayne Johnson, Green Lantern rumors have been flying around a lot lately. But could Dwayne Johnson’s Batman vs. Superman role be Lex Luthor? Or maybe The Rock will be helping the Justice League as the black version of the Green Lantern?
In a related story by The Inquisitr, Dwayne Johnson’s WWE plans originally included The Undertaker vs. The Rock but unfortunately he was forced to quit that idea. It’s also rumored that The Rock may play the hulking cyborg in Terminator: Genesis, a reboot of the sci-fi classic. While that’s uncertain, we do know for sure Johnson will be starring in Seal Team 666, a Hercules movie (not the one that bombed out recently), and in 2015 he’ll be in another movie called San Andreas.
The rumors surrounding the making of Batman vs. Superman have gotten fairly crazy. They can’t even make up their minds on a title, which is why you see it flipped around so often. We do know the release date has been delayed at least a year although the exact reasons keep changing. Henry Cavill is definitely Superman, and Amy Adams will be Lois Lane, but otherwise all bets are off.
For example, Gal Gadot might be Wonder Woman, although there’s also Evangeline Lilly and Olga Kurlenko. Even Ben Affleck as Batman is in jeopardy since the actor is threatening to quit. So sad… but I’m sure some Batman fans would prefer The Rock as the big bat even if he doesn’t fit the role.
The role of the major villain is also a giant question mark. First we had some people claiming Bryan Cranston was Lex Luthor. Then it was Joaquin Phoenix. The rumors got even crazier when Denzel Washington was suggested as a black Lex Luthor. Then some people suggested Denzel will be the Green Lantern, although nothing was ever confirmed.
So why does anyone believe we might see Dwayne Johnson as the Green Lantern? This little birdy said so:
"We just had a big meeting w/ Warner Bros CEO re: @DCComics 2014 we will partner up and create the cool bad assery. #RockTalk @ActionTilson"
The rumors actually make some sort of sense based upon the comics. In the Green Lantern movie, Ryan Reynolds played the role of the Hal Jordan version of Green Lantern. So the Rock would be taking the role of the John Stewart version of Green Lantern. Although the skin tone of Stewart is typically fairly dark, Dwayne Johnson’s nationality is African-Canadian and Samoan.
